Part C — Composition (Marks — 30)

9. Write a paragraph on ‘Price Hike’. (Marks 10)

Price Hike

Price hike refers to the persistent, abnormal, and exorbitant increase in the prices of daily essential commodities within an economy. In contemporary Bangladesh, price hike has escalated into one of the most critical socio-economic challenges, directly destabilizing the living standards of middle-class and low-income populations. The market costs of staple food items such as rice, edible oil, lentils, onions, vegetables, gas, and electricity have soared beyond the purchasing capacity of ordinary citizens. The causes behind this relentless price escalation are multifaceted. Primarily, artificial market manipulation engineered by unscrupulous syndicates, hoarding of goods by dishonest wholesalers, illegal black-marketing, and extortion across transportation networks play devastating roles. Additionally, external macroeconomic factors such as global inflation, currency depreciation, geopolitical conflicts interrupting international supply chains, and rising import costs of fuel exacerbate the crisis. The consequences of price hike are intensely harrowing. Fixed-income families, daily wage laborers, and poor households are forced to drastically cut down on their daily nutritional intake, compromise medical expenses, and withdraw their children from schools. Malnutrition and social crimes like theft and bribery inevitably rise when citizens struggle for basic survival. To overcome this crippling crisis, the government must adopt rigorous, decisive, and multi-pronged measures. Market monitoring task forces must conduct unannounced surveillance to crush dishonest cartels and hoarders under the Special Powers Act. The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) should drastically expand its open market sales (OMS) of subsidized essentials to reach every urban and rural neighborhood. Furthermore, enhancing domestic agricultural production, improving logistics, modernizing cold storage facilities, and rationalizing import duties can permanently stabilize commodity markets. Ensuring equitable food security is an undeniable constitutional obligation, and relentless vigilance is imperative to shield vulnerable citizens from the unbearable clutches of price hike.

10. Write an application to the principal of your madrasah for extra class. (Marks 10)

Date: October 20, 2020
To
The Principal
Government Madrasah-e-Alia
Bakshibazar, Dhaka-1211.

Subject: Application for arranging extra coaching classes for Fazil Honours 1st Year.

Sir,
With due respect and humble submission, we, the students of Fazil (Honours) 1st Year under the Department of Al-Quran and Islamic Studies in your prestigious institution, beg to approach you with the following academic grievance for your sympathetic consideration.

Our upcoming university terminal examinations are scheduled to commence in the coming months. Unfortunately, due to unexpected closures, national holidays, and prolonged administrative disruptions, several critical portions of our syllabus—particularly in Basic English (Subject Code: 201105) and Applied Arabic (Subject Code: 201103)—remain incomplete. These courses demand extensive pedagogical drill in complex grammatical structures, translation techniques, and composition writing. Without intensive interactive classes under the direct supervision of our respected faculty members, many students are facing severe anxiety and find it exceptionally difficult to complete their preparation satisfactorily.

Under these urgent circumstances, arrangement of at least two additional hours of special coaching classes per week in English and Arabic after regular class hours would immensely benefit all examinees to bridge this academic deficit.

We, therefore, earnestly pray and hope that your honor would be kind and gracious enough to sanction and arrange the requested extra coaching classes at an early date, for which act of your administrative benevolence we shall remain ever grateful.

We remain,
Sir,
Yours obediently,
The Students of Fazil (Honours) 1st Year
Department of Al-Quran and Islamic Studies
Government Madrasah-e-Alia, Dhaka.

11. Write a dialogue between you and your friend on importance of tree plantation. (Marks 10)

A Dialogue on the Importance of Tree Plantation

Setting: A lush garden corner of the madrasah campus where Arif and Tanvir are sitting under a banyan tree after classes.

Arif: Assalamu Alaikum, Tanvir. You look deeply immersed in thought. What is on your mind?

Tanvir: Wa Alaikumus Salam, Arif. I was just reading an article on rapid climate change and unprecedented global warming. Our environment is deteriorating alarmingly day by day.

Arif: You have raised a very grave issue, Tanvir. Deforestation and urban encroachment are stripping our planet of its natural green cover, triggering devastating floods, irregular rainfalls, and deadly heatwaves.

Tanvir: Exactly! And that is why I was pondering over the immense significance of tree plantation. Trees are truly the lifelines of our planet.

Arif: Absolutely. Trees are the primary oxygen factories of the Earth. Through photosynthesis, they absorb dangerous carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and release fresh oxygen, which sustains the respiration of all living beings.

Tanvir: Besides purifying air, trees play an irreplaceable role in maintaining ecological equilibrium. Their strong root networks anchor the soil, preventing severe soil erosion and riverbank collapse during monsoon floods.

Arif: Furthermore, trees provide us with succulent fruits, life-saving medicines, timber for shelter, and shade against scorching heat. They also serve as the natural habitats for innumerable birds and wildlife species.

Tanvir: Did you know, Arif, that Islam attaches supreme spiritual virtue to planting trees? Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) declared that if a Muslim plants a tree or sows a seed, and a bird, animal, or human eats from it, it is counted as continuous charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) for him until the Day of Resurrection.

Arif: SubhanAllah! What a profound incentive to preserve Mother Nature! The Prophet (pbuh) even instructed that if the Final Hour is established while someone holds a sapling in his hand, he should plant it if he is able to do so.

Tanvir: That is astonishingly beautiful! However, despite these ecological and spiritual values, rampant deforestation continues unchecked across our country.

Arif: Indeed. Therefore, mass awareness is imperative. The government, educational institutions, and youth clubs must launch nationwide tree plantation campaigns during the rainy season.

Tanvir: I fully agree with you. We should not merely plant saplings during ceremonial occasions; we must also nurture and protect them until they grow into mature trees.

Arif: Let us take a firm vow today: we will each plant at least five trees around our homes and madrasah premises this weekend and inspire our classmates to join us.

Tanvir: Excellent proposal, Arif! Together we can make our green earth healthier and more hospitable. Thank you for this inspiring conversation.

Arif: You are most welcome, Tanvir. May Allah grant barakah in our noble endeavor.
